Revelation is considered apocalyptic writing. Apocalyptic means revelation or prophecy.
Notable chapters are: 3-4 which speak of the churches, 6-20 which cover the Tribulation period, and 21-22 which reveal a glimpse of eternity. The three symbols of judgment used in the book are Seals (chapter 6) Trumpets (chapters 8-9) and Bowls (chapters 15-16). Millennium, which is Latin for a 1000 years, finds its basis in chapter 20.
