PHILIPPIANS - 1. WRITER: Paul (Phil 1:1) Written while Paul was in prison (1:12,13) 2. KEY VERSE: (Phil 1:21) "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." 3. MAIN THEME: Christ In You a. COMMENTS: Paul acknowledges a gift sent to him from the church at Philippi. The gift was brought by Epaphroditus. Some of the key words in the epistle are: In Christ, Joy, Rejoice, Gospel and Spirit. Reasons to rejoice are given in each chapter of this epistle: (1:18) that Christ is preached, (2:17) for sacrificial service, (3:3) for worship in the Spirit, (4:10) for ministry to the saints. |
