| THE EPISTLE OF 2 PETER - 1. WRITER: Peter (2 Pet 1:1) "Servant and apostle of Jesus Christ ..." 2. KEY VERSE: (2 Pet 3:1-3) "This second epistle beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance; that ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and the commandments of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior." 3. MAIN THEME: Combating Error a. Key Words: Knowledge, Know, Judgment, Diligent, Righteousness. b. Peter's first epistle talks about opposition from without, this one of opposition from within. 4. OUTLINE: A. God's Promises Remembered (Ch 1) B. Godless Perverters Revealed (Ch 2) C. God's Program Reviewed (Ch 3) 5. NOTES: The last five N. T. epistles are filled with warning against false teaching, and false doctrine. COMMENTS: Both James and Jude were children of Mary the mother of Jesus (Mat 13:55). 2 Timothy and 2 Peter have much in common. Both speak of widespread departure from the faith in the last days. THE EPISTLE OF JUDE - 1. WRITER: Jude (1:1) "Servant of Jesus Christ and brother of James ..." 2. KEY VERSE: (vs 3-4) "Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered to the saints." 3. MAIN THEME: Godlessness a. Key Words: Remember, Keep, Judgment, Ungodly b. "The faith", a body of revealed truth delivered to the saints. 4. OUTLINE: A. Conduct of Godless Men (vs 1-11) B.
