JESUS IS THE WAY

(John 14:6) "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

Some in our generation would like to do away with this verse. They teach there is no such thing as absolutes. They are of the opinion there are many ways to attain favor with God if you wanted too. It all depends on what works best for the individual. In other words, the decision rests in the mind of the individual. When I was just a young boy I remember learning 2 + 2 = 4, and 2 X 2 = 4. I often wondered about that. How could they both equal the same? I didn’t know the answer but I accepted it as truth. Now some 60 years later, still they both equal 4. That’s because they are absolutes. Jesus is an absolute. I would like to share three ways the Bible points to Him as our absolute:

THE WAY OF ABUNDANCE
(John 10:9,10) "I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."

Jesus is the door. The only way we can get into the presence of the Father. By going through the door, we have salvation and that includes eternal life. I trust you have opened the door. Jesus gives eternal life to whosoever will call upon His name, (Rom 10:13). We do not have to beg Him for it, He willingly offers it to us. Entering through the door is to go into the sheepfold, a place of safety. The world is on a collision course with judgment. Are you safe in the sheepfold of God? Others have claimed to offer eternal life to those who would accept their teachings. Mohammed, Confucius, Buddha, just to name a few. Where are they? They are still in the grave. The Bible tells us these are thieves and robbers who claim but cannot deliver the gift of life. Only Jesus is resurrected from the dead. His offer of life is valid, it never ends, it is as eternal as He Himself. The abundant life is a life of meaning, purpose and satisfaction. It is a life that will continue for all eternity. It is a life of fellowship with God Himself that begins the moment you say yes to Jesus.

THE WAY OF ASSURANCE
Speaking of the Lord Jesus Christ -(2 Cor 1:20) "For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us."

God has given promises for every area of the Christian experience. These promises reveal what God will do for those who place their confidence in Him. Note, that all the promises find their sustenance in Christ. Are you going through a difficult time? Have you searched God’s word for the way of victory? What God promises he will do. Find His promises that apply to your situation today and claim them through the Lord Jesus Christ. (John 14:13) says, "And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son." Claim the promises of God and commit yourself to His plan for your life. God will fulfill His promises and bring glory to Himself through His Son. Someone has said, "There are 365 promises in the Bible, one for each day of the year." I’ve never counted the promises, but I do know we can count on God when we call on Him.

THE WAY OF ATONEMENT
(1 Cor 11:24-26) "And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord's death till he come."

It is through the finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ that we have the victory over sin, Satan and the world. Jesus took our place, died for our sins, shedding His blood for our forgiveness. Atonement is a work Christ completed on the cross, applicable to all who receive Him as Savior. In (John 1:29) John said, "Behold the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world." Holman’s Bible Dictionary says, "The focal point of God's atoning work is Christ's death on the cross. Paul wrote "when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son" (Rom. 5:10). These words not only define the meaning of atonement, they reveal the heart of the gospel as well." In summary, God’s Lamb, Jesus Christ, died for us and reconciled all who believe to Himself. He is our atoning sacrifice thereby reconciling us to God.

A music teacher took a tuning fork and struck it sharply on his desk. He asked the class about the resulting tone. The class knew immediately it was the key of "A" on the musical scale, a 440 cycle tone. The teacher added, "There is something else unique about this tone, It will be the same, next week, next month, next year, because it is a standard." Our Lord Jesus is our standard, our only way to God. Next month, next year, next century, He is always the same, yesterday, today and forever. (Heb 13:8) Do you know Him as your Savior? God bless.
