DESCRIPTION OF COURSES
(Not all courses are offered at each school)
New Testament Survey - Course 101
A broad look at all of the books of the New Testament, with special emphasis upon the
theme and purpose of each book. Designed to give the student a practical working knowledge
of the New Testament.
Romans - Course 104
A detailed study from Paul's letter to the Romans of the basic truths concerning man's
hopeless condition in sin, and the gracious remedy through the Lord Jesus Christ.
Gospel of John - Course 105
An analytical study of the Gospel of John with special attention to John's proof of the
Deity of Christ.
Bible Doctrine I - Course 106
A study of man in his original state: his nature, his essential difference from all the
rest of creation; his fallen state; sin; plan of redemption.
Bible Introduction - Course 108
This course will cover manuscripts, canon, and translations. Also principles and methods
of Bible study and the use of helps.
Christian Evidences - Prophecy I - Course 109
The first semester is a proof of the inspiration of the Bible and the Deity of Christ. The
second semester is a brief survey of God's dealing with man through the ages.
Bible Doctrine 11 - Course 202
A topical study of what the Scriptures teach concerning God as to His nature, works, and
existence. There will be a detailed study of the "Trinity" or God's existence in
Three Persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Pauline Epistles I - Course 203
A systematic study of Paul's Epistles, I and II, Corinthians, and I & II
Thessalonians.
Synoptic Gospels - Course 205
As a result of this course students will become acquainted with the New
Testament world from historical, cultural, sociological and religious
perspectives. Additionally, students will be exposed to the exegesis of
biblical passages from Matthew, Mark and Luke while examining the literary
forms contained in these Gospels. Required reading includes the synoptic
gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke.
Pauline Epistles II - Course 209
A systematic study of Paul's Epistles, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, I and
II Timothy, Titus and Philemon.
Old Testament Survey I - Course 210
This course aims to take the student through the Old Testament, from Genesis to Esther,
presenting the basic message and purpose of each book.
Christian Life - Personal Evangelism - Course 211
In the first semester a study will be made of God's provision for deliverance from
temptations, and spiritual enrichment through the life of Christ within the believer's
heart. In the second semester, suggested contacts and the use of appropriate Scriptures
will be considered, as well as difficult cases and objections.
General Epistles - Course 305
An analysis and application of the rich doctrinal and practical teaching found in I and II
Peter, James, the epistles of John and Jude.
Hebrews - Course 306
An analytical study of the Epistle to the Hebrews, with emphasis on its
relationship to
the typical teaching of the Old Testament Tabernacle.
Old Testament Survey II - Course 310
This course aims to take the student through the Old Testament, from Job to Malachi,
presenting the basic message and purpose of each book.
Teacher Training - Course 319 and 321
These two courses are designed to provide students exposure to the
concepts related to a successful teaching ministry. While students are not
required to become classroom teachers, they will be exposed to the
fundamentals of developing and implementing a successful lesson and lesson
plan. During the first semester, students will review the basic concepts
of understanding people and the various techniques for church education
and leadership. At the end of the class all students are required to
submit an acceptable lesson plan.
During the second semester the emphasis is upon implementing a
successful demonstration lesson. Students are required to demonstrate a
variety of teaching techniques. At the end of this class all students are
required to submit an acceptable lesson plan and perform a demonstration
lesson. Required reading, More Than Sunday School and Evangelize Through Christian Education.
Acts - Course 313
The importance and principles of Biblical Missions is emphasized during a brief study of
the book of Acts.
Christian Missions - Course 314
This course gives the Biblical basis and scripture principles of Christian Missions. A
very brief history of missions is followed by a survey of mission conditions and needs of
the countries of the world today. Finally a study of changed and changing conditions in
the world, and the strategy to meet these new conditions, climaxes the course.
Teacher Training III - Course 403
Sunday School Administration, the actual machinery for operating a successful school.
Adult Department work. Required E.T.A reading: V.B.S. and Other Summer
Ministries and The Church at Study.
Introduction to New Testament Greek I - Course 408
This course will teach the Greek Alphabet and go into the meaning of words, working
directly with scripture texts.
Bible Geography - Course 433
Here you will learn the geographical regions of the land of the
Bible, major trade routes, various cities, names of the major mountains,
terrain, etc.
We recommend that students take the courses in order, first year subjects first,
etc. However, if there Is a special need, a course may be taken out of order. |
